Interview with fanartist Mijo

Mijo is fanatrist who live in Philippines. She became famous through his fanarts, which were also seen by famous artists. We talked about his art, hobbies and dreams.


Tell me about yourself where you were born, how old are you and where do you study?

- I go by the name Mijo, which is pronounced as Miho. I'm from the Philippines and I graduated as a fine arts student, and I’m now doing managerial works at my family's business.

How many years do you draw?

- I started painting for the first time I think around year 2017, and then I stopped cause I was more into other mediums and i just recently got into painting year 2019.

How did you decide to engage in art?

- I appreciate art so much and I felt happy and ecstatic doing artworks, that's why I decided to pursue art as a career.

What was your first fanart?

- It was an Exo fanart, it was a Kai fanart to be exact, I was really proud of it cause I thought it was great, but now that i think about it isnt something to be proud of cause I didnt know how to draw back then ahaha

Do you have a source of inspiration?

- I don’t have anything specific rn but i guess from artists who i look up to.


Who is your favorite artist?

- I have a LOT of faves, my lists of inspirations changes from time to time, it really depends on what im focusing at, and I can’t even rate who my top faves are cause they are all admirable.

Do you like other artist's fanarts?

- Yes, of course, and I love hyping other people's fanarts too.

How much time is spent for one picture?

- It really depends on how complicated the reference im using, and what mood I’m feeling.


Have you ever sold your fanart's?

- I don’t sell my original artworks, but I sell prints.

Do you read the instagram's comments? What was the most inspiring comment?

- Yes, I do, always. Every comment that says what they love about my artworks and those who always support me are the most cherished people who makes me want to improve more

What was your biggest achievement?


- I guess getting my artworks noticed by idols that I look up to is my biggest achievement so far.


Have the idols ever seen your fanarts?

- Yes, kpop idols like Chan from Stray Kids and Jimin (jiminxjamie), and other non-kpop idols like Yassi and Issa Pressman for example have seen some of my artworks for them.


What goals do you have (if you talk about them)?

- For now I just want to improve a lot more, not just with my art but the way I do and what i feel with my works. To be known by my artworks, to have loads of exhibits in the future, not just group exhibits but one-man shows. To explore more styles and mediums. And to become a tattoo artist.
